BONE (in post production)

BASH FILM 20
film by Eugene Garcia
1998, CANADA, 35mm
76:00 minutes (NTSC)

Bone is the story of four friends who get caught up in a crooked venture to transport illegally obtained genetic material across national borders. It opens with the arrival of Hadley (Marisa Marlone), an airline stewardess, to her home city where she reunites with Paul (Romano Orzari), an educated guy who, much like many people from his generation, is stuck working for minimum wage in an not so gratifying position, in this case, an interior parking lot. Paul wants out and he tells Hadley about Marty (David Andrew Barret), a friend who’s been involved in small, shady deals for as long as he can remember. But this time, it seems he has an easy, sure-fire scam that could all net them a handsome sum. The idea is to use Hadley’s position as a flight attendant to their advantage in what sounds like a simple go-to and return...

CRACK ME UP

BASH FILM 11
a film by Bashar Shbib
1991, CANADA, 35 mm
75:15 minutes (NTSC)

THE BLOND, THE BLIND AND THE BROTHEL... The film weaves the tale of Louie B. (TIM BRAZZIL), a hapless cowboy that thinks the world would be a better place if strangers would kiss each other more. After a run-in with a band of crooks headed by Stacey, (MARY CROSBY of Dallas fame), Louie goes blind and is sheltered by Billie Jean, a toughlove prostitute (DAPHNA KASTNER, Julia Has Two Lovers) and her gay and straight co-workers. What follows is a fabulously eclectic look into life in an East Hollywood Heidi Fleiss-style bordello for the working man, that's unconfining to heterosexual social mores.

EVIXION

BASH FILM 4
a film by Bashar Shbib
1986, CANADA
78:00 minutes (NTSC)

Imagine a surreal narrative, without dialogue, in a style reminiscent of the twenties silent era and seen through the lens of moving voyeuristic camera that records the odd whereabouts of an unseemly group of marginal tenants such as: an aging homosexual and his drug-addicted lover, a couple of fitness-freak yuppies, an eccentric black lady and her son, a punkish crazy diva and other bizarre, incongruous characters. Watch them unravel in anarchy while they fight against the foul manoeuvres of an ingenious but nasty landlord who wants them evicted once and for all...

A visual gastronomical feast and educational tool. From the wheat field to the mill to the kitchens and bakeries of the world, Bread is a mouth-watering, fast paced, award winning documentary. Not only are the smooth, comparative cuts from bread being hand-made to production line machine-made appetizing, but exceptionally strong use of form and camera angles will sparkle the tastebuds of film gourmands. Itmay be the first and last time you get to sit down in front of an oven and watch buns rising...
